World Environment Day and Van MAHOTSAV CELEBRATION
Grade 7C students of DMIS observed World Environment Day-2016 by organizing a special assembly on Thursday, 9th June, 2016 at DMIS assembly hall in the most gorgeous manner that captivated all gathered there delivering spectacularly the message through effective role plays. The theme of the assembly was World Environment Day with its special slogan “Go Wild for Life” which has been coined by the UNEP for the year 2016. The assembly programme included „Thought for the day, Word of the day‟, News, Speech and a PowerPoint show by the students exhibiting various types of wild animal trafficking and the related social crimes such as smuggling, violation of Wild Life Act, etc. After the slide show the students presented role plays of different wild animals, an attempt to view things from the animals‟ angle on human’s illegal encroachment on their habitat and the killing of wild animals for commercial purposes. The role play was quite effective in the symbolic presentation of the humanistic and compassionate transformation that happened in the minds of attackers and hunters after hearing the emotions of the animals. Kudos to the students for their marvelous presentation.
